Becky Van Mersbergen is a 24 year old Mixed Media artist and student living in Central Florida. Her work can be described as a “controlled chaos”, often incorporating bright hues, bold details, and the fragility of the human self. The main forms of media she uses is painting and illustration with acrylic paints and inks. She often uses them on various materials such as the traditional canvas, to skateboard decks.
She is inspired by the world around her, and all the nature and individuals who inhabit this Earth. Although, her main subject matter involves women, with their complex bodies and minds in a whimsical setting. With her work she wants to draw attention to the feminine figure, but she also wants to illustrate the chaos that can come from within. Her emotions and her obscure train of thought drive her to create art that’s emphasized to show the imperfections with ourselves.
Although in person she may be calm, cool, and collected, her art can speak much louder and better than she could ever say with words. “My voice is quiet, but my thoughts are loud.” Is a quote that resonates within her so much… A picture is worth 1,000 words, right?
